Insurance is currently not accepted but please ask about whether your insurance will be accepted in the future. A superbill can be provided to help you seek reimbursement for therapy costs from your insurance.
-
A superbill is an itemized receipt provided by your counselor that includes detailed information about the services you received. You can submit this document to your insurance carrier to request reimbursement for out-of-network (OON) benefits. To check if your insurance will cover these services, contact your insurance carrier and ask about their process for submitting a superbill, the coverage rate for OON providers, and any deductible requirements.
Tips for working with your insurance company:
Insurance companies often reimburse for a percentage of what they say therapy should cost. They might call this the “Usual, Customary, and Reasonable (UCR)” rate or the “Reasonable Market Value.” You can use the Fair Health Consumer site to calculate the rate for therapy in my area.
Choose “Going out-of-network.”
Input the zip code for my place of business: 77523
Use the code for individual outpatient therapy: 90834
Towards the top right, in blue, you’ll see the “Out-of-Network Uninsured Price” of $181 (as of 9/14/24), which is higher than my rate.
When you call your insurance provider and they give you a UCR lower than that, you can say that you used the Fair Health Consumer site to calculate the going rate for a counselor in my provider area and ask if they would consider reimbursing at that rate.

Counseling is a collaborative process where a trained professional helps you develop skills to manage distress, and where you can explore your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors to promote personal growth, emotional healing, and problem-solving. Counseling differs from talking to a friend or family member in that your counselor will not tell you what to do but will instead support you as you discover the best solutions for your life. Counseling is completely confidential, and a nonjudgmental place where you can address your personal challenges without worrying about how your thoughts, feelings, or choices might impact your friend or family member.
